Purpose of Tajweed

Quran is the Word of God. So its recitation should be taken very seriously. Tajweed in essence is designed to allow skilled reciter to recite the "Quran" with correct pronunciation, observe every letter with the rules without any exaggeration or deficiency.

Arabic alphabet has a Makhraj means (exit or articulation point - from their origins , mouth or throat), they also have Sifaat - properties or attributes - especially to them. Know each letter Makhraj Sifaat important part of Tajweed. Sometimes two letters or words have similar exits, which makes 80% chances to combine them. Therefore, if a person does not know the attributes of each letter, there is a danger, he would change the meaning of the words in the Quran recitation.
